BCG Change-Maker: Sports Star Zakiya Randall is on Top of her Golf Game and is Making a Difference!

“Last in the alphabet but first in the game”

She likes to be called Z. The golf phenomenon does not just stop on the course. Zakiya Randall is a public speaker, music producer, and model. Yet she makes it very clear that golf is number one priority. Golf wasn’t always her number one, she started playing tennis when she was seven years old and f ell in love with the sport. She played tennis for three years and when she turned 10 her family introduced her to golf. Zakiya “Z” has won every tournament she has entered since the age of 10 (sound a little familiar) “Tiger TIger Woods Yall”!

She joined the Atlanta Junior Golf Association in 2002 and won “Player of the Year” and won the Golf Championship as well. She made history when she won the Georgia Golf Channel Tour becomming the first female to win the event. She’s participated in Celbrity tournaments, Dr. Julius Erving Celebrity Golf Club Tournament.

She wants to be part of the Ladies Professional Golf Association. On her quest to be in the LPGA she cites the community. She should not have a hard time with all her community events, volunteer work, and public speaking to inspire and motivate young people to follow their dreams. We say that often “follow your dream” but very few people follow that practice, and at the age of 19 Z is on her way to being part of the LPGA with her fantastic golf game.

Aside from the fact that she is a outstanding young golfer, but it is her work off the golf course that sets her apart from other golfers.  She says Anika Sorenstam is one of her idols because of her golf play but also due to her off the field charities work in the community.

Z joined the Atlanta GoGirlsGo Women’s Sport Foundation for Run Relay in ’08 to help create programs and outreach to educate young girls and women through sports and education.

She tells kids to do things that their passionate about. She says golf has taught her a lot of life lessons as she is grateful for everything she has.

Zakiya Randall has done her part to plant seeds and inspire young kids to do great things, now it is our turn to back her to be part of the LPGA. She said she needs help from the coumminty, I suggest we step up to ensure that she further’s her path to greatness.
