Major League Baseball Announces Baseball Tomorrow Fund Grants Now Open!

where_have_african_american_baseball_players_goneIf you are a sports fan like myself and you pay attention to baseball or the news surrounding baseball you will know there is a prolonged question of “Where have all the black baseball players gone?” It’s true in fact  the percentage of blacks in the Major League Baseball has dropped  18-19%. It would be great to get these numbers up, this is an amazing sport to send our kids to college, plus players in the MLB typically play for up to 10 years longer than the NFL.  If you know of a youth baseball program in your area in need of funds, let them know about the Baseball Tomorrow Fund (BTF) which awards grants to non-profit organizations involved in youth baseball and/or softball programs. Organizations operating in the U.S. and international locations are eligible to apply. Approximately only 400 requests are received annually, this is not a lot, plus grants are awarded on a quarterly basis.

Grants are intended to provide funding for programming and facilities for youth baseball and softball programs. The funds may be used to finance a new program, expand or improve an existing program, undertake a new collaborative effort, or obtain facilities or equipment necessary for youth baseball or softball programs.
Grants are designed to be flexible to enable applicants to address needs unique to their communities. More information regarding the evaluation criteria and use of grant funds can be found in the Grant Application section.

Grant Review Process
Grants are awarded on a quarterly basis after a thorough and selective application process.
Please review the following timeline before submitting an application:

* Applicants are encouraged to submit applications prior to the deadline. Applications submitted after a deadline may be deferred to the next review cycle.

**The length of the review process is 3-6 months, and the grant payment process is at least four weeks. Grant funds are not awarded for past expenditures, so please plan the project timeline accordingly.

For more information or to begin the application process, please proceed visit Grant Application.
