Mayor Aja Brown and Hustle Mommies Empower Compton Moms with Special Guest Keisha Epps

On Wednesday June 22, 2016 the Hustle Mommies brought “sisterhood through motherhood” in Compton with their third annual “Mommy Makeover” charity event featuring Compton Mayor Aja Brown and Keisha Epps from the 1990s R&B group Total.

The Mommy Makeover was created as a platform to increase the confidence of moms living in poverty or life challenging situations by providing real life spa services for them. The third installment of the BET Edition of the Mommy Makeover event was in partnership with Compton Mayor Aja Brown as an effort to empower moms in the City of Compton. Women were given services sponsored by Kandiland Nails, Manly Handz, Mad Diva Concierge, Epic Event Designs, All Flavor No Grease, Mama Be Brilliant, Black Celeb Giving and NewnyPooh Cupcakes. Keisha Epps from Diddy’s legendary R&B group “Total” gave the moms a story of hope and love as she spoke on never giving up and being the light in the time of darkness for their children.

Black women makes up 64% of the single mom population and is affected by the realities of inner city violence. Hustle Mommies was created and founded by Ariel Rainey to be a platform for the mom that doesn’t have a voice. Created during her time living in Los Angeles, Ariel ” The Mogul” Rainey was determined to empower the mom who is often overlooked by helping her become a leader in her home and community. Her desire for this platform was inspired by her hometown Chicago, IL and the moms that are forced to raise children in neighborhoods where inner city violence is at an all time high.

“I left my kids in Chicago with my Mom and came to LA to work towards my goal to change my life. I know what the hustle of being a Mom looks like and how being a Mom in the inner city can take a toll on the spirit of a mother. This organization is dedicated to giving hope and love to the moms that face the same realities I once dealt with as a Mom. We are dedicated to providing sisterhood through motherhood and helping these moms change their lives in order to be better moms for their children and communities.”
