{PICS} The 2nd Annual BCG Giving Boutique Homeless Youth Celebrity Shopping Experience Atlanta!

Giving Boutique 14

BlackCelebrityGiving.com  hosted the first of our 2nd Annual Giving Boutique, a five city tour in Atlanta this past Sunday, August 3rd.

Hip-Hop and Reality Star Jim Jones, Super Bowl Champion Deon Grant, The Family Hustle’s Precious, R&B Group Final Draft and many more joined us to serve over 500 homeless and low income youth from over 20 shelters and programs serving low income families. Benefitting Atlanta Area Shelters: The Atlanta Children’s Shelter, Families First, City of Refuge, Goodwill Workforce Development and many more.

Each child will received three to five outfits, new under-garments, accessories and for many a pair of shoes.  Beyond being able to cover the basic necessity of back-to-school clothes,we provided these youth and their families with a true shopping experience, complete with a DJ, gourmet popcorn bar, candy bar provide by A Touch of Warmth, and more. Infiniti of South Atlanta was on hand to shuttle our residents without transportation from the shelter to the boutique, over 100 residents received free rides, thank you so much Infiniti of South Atlanta! Local talented youth including King Roscoe, Supa Peach and D Squared graced the stage to perform for the shoppers and local bike clubs Tru Ikonz and Xecutive Riders, were on hand to provide over 200 kids with free school supplies.

To develop the campaign, we interviewed several homeless teens and families living in Atlanta and Los Angeles. And we were shocked to hear that an overwhelming number of the people we spoke to felt dehumanized by the amount of discarded and unwanted donations they receive, often in trash bags. They told us that, while they were grateful for the help, it made them feel hopeless and unwanted.  With that information in mind, we set forward to offer homeless families across the country, the opportunity to have a true “shopping experience,” minus the price tags,   of course. The Giving Boutique is a national new and gently-used children’s clothing drive and on-site activation to support thousands of homeless youth in five major US cities who go without the basic necessities on a daily basis.

We are so excited to bring this event to Atlanta once more, our special Thanks to BCG Atlanta Giving Boutique Partners: House of Adrene, Rich Boys, The Bella Org, Infinity of South Atlanta, The Prim PR Agency, A Touch of Warmth, Walmart Vine City in Atlanta and TruChatOnline!
