50 Cent Joins The Feeding America Entertainment Council!

Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, welcomes music mogul and entrepreneur, 50 Cent, to its Entertainment Council as the newest celebrity supporter. Building on the existing partnership with his audio brand, SMS Audio, 50 Cent joins Entertainment Council celebrities from across the entertainment industry, including Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Jennifer Aniston.

Entertainment Council members help raise awareness about the serious issue of hunger in America through public support via media relations, cause-marketing programs, and public policy initiatives. Additionally, each member demonstrates sincere concern for domestic hunger by participating in volunteer opportunities at Feeding America member food banks.

Growing up in the South Jamaica neighborhood of Queens, NY, and raised by his grandparents after the death of his mother, 50 Cent encountered many obstacles as a child. He has seen the effects of poverty firsthand, similar to the nearly 49 million Americans facing hunger in the United States.

“I’m blessed to have the ability to easily help people in need through my successes, and the Feeding America Entertainment Council is the perfect outlet for me to continue to do so,” said 50 Cent, CEO of SMS Audio. “I knew linking up SMS Audio with Feeding America was the way to go when it came to tackling the growing hunger crisis here at home, and I’ve been right.”

In an existing partnership with SMS Audio, each online purchase of SYNC by 50 or STREET by 50 in the United States via SMSAudio.com helps provide 250 meals to those facing hunger. To date, the partnership with Feeding America has provided more than 215,000 meals to Americans struggling to put food on the table.

In May 2012, 50 Cent volunteered at City Harvest to help repack 15,000 pounds of sweet potatoes for those facing hunger in New York. Additionally, in June 2012, SMS Audio staff members helped pack boxes of food at Feeding South Florida, the Feeding America member food bank near the company’s Delray Beach, FL offices.
