Announcing the BCG Grants Section!

When I started BCG, I had one goal in mind and that was to create social change and make this world a better place for the black community. And I’ll be honest, I have received some flack for it, why do you only feature black celebrities and black nonprofits people will ask? My answer is simple; because I am black and I care so much about my people, this news matters and I challenge you to find other sites that feature and cover on a daily basis the news we seek out here at BCG!

The great thing is that the site has grown tremendously and I get so excited to see new nonprofits featured on a daily basis and know that in some ways we are doing our part to give back. One of the things I hear on a daily basis is the need for funding to keep programs going and to expand on the mission. I decided to launch a Grants section on the site as a means to help nonprofits find grants that they may be able to apply for and hopefully receive. My goal is to research and post 3-5 grants a week in the section so please check back often to see what grants are available for you. I am also working on raising capital for BCG so that we may continue to hold contests and ultimately offer our own grants to nonprofits all around the world. Additionally, if you are a grant writer and would like to offer your services to our readers please email me jasmine@blackcelebritygiving.com! Thanks again for all of your support of BCG and here’s hoping your organization receives a grant!

Love what you’re doing. It’s so necessary not only for others to see the positive things going on, but more importantly for our own people to see that there are people that look just like us doing some amazing things. Keep up the GREAT WORK!

  2. Interest (but not surprising) that you would get flack for focusing on the black community’s philanthropic efforts. I think it is important because in my community efforts I am regularly confronted with comments expressing how many people assume that the black community does not give back. It is often not seen outside of the community and even subcommunities. It is important for people to know. Thank you for what you are doing!
