Atlanta’s Father’s Day Real Men Cook Charity Event a Success.

Fathers from across Metro Atlanta gathered on Sunday at the Georgia World Congress Center to show off their culinary skills as part of the city’s 15th annual “Real Men Cook” Father’s Day event.

This year the crowd was estimated at 2,500 and was filled with luminaries, such as Congressman/Civil Rights icon John Lewis and author/radio personality Michael Baisden, and families who gathered for food, fun and festivities.

The charitable event raised money for a very personal and worthy cause, to fund the heart transplant of an Atlanta father.

“It was amazing this year to see the families enjoying the festivities with us from the drum line that led the cooks into the ballroom to the hundreds of food items prepared by men on Father’s Day. We are excited to assist our charity partner Hearts of Steel www.heartsofsteel.org raise funds for a new heart for Ian Weeks, our 2010 Real Men Cook Winner with Cartel Catering,” said Diane Larche’
Real Men Cook For Charity Atlanta Event Manager.
Atlanta Black Star was an official online media partner for Real Men Cook activities both locally and nationally, and the events served as part of the culmination of ABS’s “Our Fathers, Our Heroes” week-long celebration of Black Fatherhood.
