BCG Best Celebrity Giver Award

Which BCG Celebrity Giver Inspires You the Most? Read their nominations below and vote for your favorites.

Steve Harvey
I am writing to nominate Mr. Steve Harvey for the Celebrity Giver of the Year BCG award category. I have been following what Mr. Harvey is doing in the community over the last year and I am very impressed with his mission to help mentor our youth. As a teacher, I have had several students apply for his Disney Dreamers Academy, last year one of my students was accepted into the program. She had the opportunity to meet Yolanda Adams which for her was huge as she is an aspiring singer. She was all abuzz about her experience and her scholarship for weeks. When you can put that kind of happiness in a youth that surrounds something positive that is truly deserving of an award. Beyond that Mr. Harvey himself awards others for doing positive things in the community with the Hoodie Awards and countless other endeavors. I highly recommend Mr. Harvey for this award.

Alicia Keys
Who gives back more than Alicia Keys? I have been very inspired to get involved with HIV/AIDS awareness because of Alicia. What many people may or may not know is that she has been doing this for years. Her Keep A Child Alive foundation is doing just that, it’s keeping children alive in our world. Her Buy Life campaign has got other celebrities involved including Jennifer Hudson, Willow Smith, Jay-Z and so many more. I really fell in love with Alicia’s work when I saw her in an interview and she said that we as fans can give $1, or even 50 cents a month, and these very small amounts add up and make a difference in what she was doing. Her efforts have raised millions of dollars and saved thousands of lives. Alicia deserves this award more than any other celebrity.

Chris Paul
I would like to nominate Mr. Chris Paul for the celebrity giver of the year. Down here in NOLA Mr.Paul has done a lot for our communities. He has built playgrounds and provided a place for kids to go after school and keep them off the streets. My grandson is part of the after school zone and he even met Chris one time and he always talking about how nice Mr. Paul be. I also have seen him on the news feeding kids, giving free camps and doing other good things. We need someone like Mr.Paul in NOLA doing good things and he is helping a lot of us. I want him to win this award.

Holly Robinson Peete
When I think of the kind of woman I want to be or what represents class and true black hollywood elegance and giving, I think of Holly. She has been a staple in the entertainment industry for over 20 years and I have only ever heard her name as it relates to something positive. I have seen her take on so many causes, mostly Autism which my daughter has and I am so inspired by her work. I also know she has tackled other causes including Parkinson’s disease too. She is such a good person, a family woman and a true giver. She just doesn’t get the credit that she is deserving of, this is someone who gives back often, not just once a year at a charity event, but all the time.

Braylon Edwards
Braylon Edwards Advance 100 program committed to sending 100 kids from lower income areas to college and it followed through. The program committed $1 million dollars and will change lives for these youth forever.
A lot of athletes use their money for cars, jewelry and other flashy things, so to see an athlete use his money to send kids to school, so that they may receive an education is outstanding. I learned of his story on your site and I am pleased to nominate him for his work this year.
