BCG Change-Maker Tamira Dunn; Helping Teen Moms in Baltimore, MD Through the Dream Girls Foundation!

Tamira Dunn is the CEO of Dream Girls Mentoring Program and this week’s BCG Change-Maker. Dream Girls was founded the summer after Tamira graduated from Morgan State University in August, 2008. At the age of 21 she realized there was a need for a mentoring program that provided direct services to pregnant and parenting teen moms.

Since 2008, Dream Girls has assisted young moms with: completing high school, applying for colleges and obtaining jobs. Through their community outreach initiatives Dream Girls has assisted needy families with toys during a yearly Christmas program held by the foundation and school supplies during their annual back to school block parties. Dream Girls currently provides services to teen moms in the Baltimore, MD area, currently they are partnered with three high schools in Baltimore.

Helping the community has always been her passion, Tamira tells BCG “I love the youth and I’m all about supporting our future.” Tamira is a part of the Baltimore City Youth Commission which is through the Mayors office. Tamira is one of three site wide youth commissioners and the chair of the Health Committee. Through the youth commission she has advocated for the physical and mental well being of Baltimore’s youth.

With my tremendous contributions to the community, she still maintains a full time position as a caseworker with the Baltimore City Department of Social Services where she assist families with evictions and utility cut offs. We salute Tamira Dunn for her commitment to social change in the Baltimore area!
