BCG Featured Celebrity Giver: How Wale Gives Back!

Today Wale, born Olubowale Victor Akintimehin, September 21, 1984, drops his highly anticipated ‘Ambition’ album featuring hit singles The Way and Lotus Flower Bomb. Fans of Wale all over the world have readied themselves for his release by chanting the slogan, Wale chose for his album title “Ambition.” Several twitter accounts including @AmbitiousGirls have even formed to lend their support to the DC rapper whose parents are from Nigeria. As few will know and far less will tell you, Wale truly does give back and is committed to helping his DMV community as well as parents homeland, Africa. BCG shows you how Mr. Ambition aka Wale gives back and plans to do more giving!


Water Crisis: Throughout the years Wale is said to have stepped up to lend a helping hand and of course his celebrity to the water crisis in Africa.  By worlking with organizations acorss the country and in Nigeria. The Africa water problem has of late become of great concern to many African countries. At a recent conference attended by 1000 delegates in Addis Ababa, water experts said that Africa was facing a water crisis affecting 300 million people. A recent UNICEF report reveals that more than 2.6 billion people in the world do not have basic sanitation and more than one billion people still use unsafe drinking water.

Thanksgiving Giving:
Wale joined forces with Washington Wizards player John Wall, The Board Administration and others at D.C.’s Bar 7 last year for the holiday. Providing free turkeys and dinner packages to hungry families for Thanksgiving. During the giving, Wale also visited with residents in their homes.


What’s Next for Wale:
Wale is teaming up with his good friend Tony Lewis Jr., who won for Best Community Leader at the 2011 Ford Hoodie Awards in August. Lewis, who works with the District of Columbia Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency as a vocational and job development specialist, is the son of Tony Lewis Sr. — one of D.C.’s most notorious open-air drug market dealers, currently serving a life sentence. Wale looks to join Lewis Jr. in his efforts which particularly surround making a difference in the lives of other children of incarcerated parents. The two are also said to be teaming up again this holiday season for residents in the Washington, DC area.
