Charity Spotlight: Deborah Amoi Foundation ~ Breaking the Cycle of Poverty Through Education!

Mission Statement
To increase access to secondary education for children in extreme  poverty through merit based scholarships, recognizing that these  children will return to their respective communities as educated,  inspired and innovate young people, who will improve the quality of life  by breaking the cycle of poverty.

The Problem
One of the biggest barriers to ending poverty in Africa is lack of education. Many children are unable to go to school in most parts of Africa, because of the fee structure that exists. Instead, they are forced to stay at home and tend to younger siblings or go out into the workforce. Unlike many countries in the West, secondary school in Kenya is not free. Thus, to continue on past 8th grade, a high school student ends up paying around $500 per year. This becomes unachievable as the majority of Kenyans survive on less than a dollar a day, making it impossible to send their children to school. As a result, many students drop out of school and education is placed beyond their reach.

How  The Deborah Amoi Foundation Helps
The Deborah Amoi Foundation (DAF) is a nonprofit organization that provides merit-based scholarships enabling underprivileged students in East Africa access to education. DAF is committed to make education accessible to underprivileged students all over Kenya. The situation is dire especially in rural areas; however, with donations by concerned and benevolent givers like you, together we can help break the cycle of poverty.
