Atlanta-based non-profit organization, Dream Big, was founded in 2003 by husband and wife team, Michael and Doretha White to assist students as they transition into the next phase of independence. Dream Big works with students as young as 3rd grade up to those of college age in college prep workshops, college campus tours, and even a transitioning workshop for students who are advancing from one level of their educational life to another. The organization also plans senior class trips. Dream Big’s mission is to provide education support services to minority and underrepresented students all across the country, ultimately becoming the number one source for college preparatory workshops, seminars, publications, individualized coaching, and college tours.
Founders, Michael and Doretha, together have over 27 years of first-hand experience in the field of education in the areas of teaching, coaching, mentoring, human resources, professional learning, administration/supervision, and consulting. Together, they possess a unique and sincere understanding of the problems today’s youth faces, and by challenging them to think outside the box and focus on their future instead of “right now,” they allow these students to discover the freedom they have to do anything they set their mind to do.
One of the major programs of Dream Big is its college campus tours. Dream Big sponsors year-round, college campus tours to give students the opportunity to experience various campuses, the surrounding cities, and local attractions. The organization goes all over the country to schools such as Howard University, Hampton University, Princeton University, Cornell University, University of Miami, Albany State University, Spelman College, Morehouse College, and many, many more! Dream Big also helps students with educational and career planning. Most students may find the college prep seminar environment very beneficial and worthwhile. However, many other students desire to have one-on-one help with college selections, majors/minors, college essay writing, learning style identification, interview skills, resume writing, and other important personalized services. Dream Big helps students by giving them individualized help in these areas. Dream Big gives back to the community and seeks to advance underserved students so that they can achieve their dreams!
