Charity Spotlight: Family Empowerment Center ~ Albany, GA!

The Family Empowerment Center is a nonprofit performing arts community center and an extended program of GO Ministries, a nonprofit Christian
Performing Arts organization. GO Ministries was founded in April 16, 2006 by
Travis and Bridgett Mack, GO Ministries is dedicated to empowering
disadvantaged families by providing them with the creative tools needed to
succeed economically, socially and ethically. The community center opened it’s doors on August 21, 2011 and has been working nonstop to empower and educate our local families.

The center currently provides job training to TANF recipients sent to us from DFCS. The program has already serviced 23 single mothers but it has the potential to do so much more. One of the biggest challenges has been  acquiring vocal and financial support from our community. Sadly the founders Travis and Bridgett Mack tell BCG that community leaders have condemned Eastside as being “a lost cause”. “They refuse to fund their programs, saying it’s a waste of time to try and help “those people,” says Bridgett. There are many people who live in East side that want a chance to make a better life for themselves and their children but  can’t because of the doors that are continuously closed in their faces.
