The mission of the Nonprofit Center of North Central Florida, a 501(c)3 organization, is to cultivate support, growth and community awareness to assist nonprofit organizations in fulfilling their missions.
The Nonprofit Center of North Central Florida (NCNCF) was founded in 2010 by the two members of NCNCF’s management team and Leadership Gainesville Class 36. The impetus of the creation of a nonprofit resource center in Gainesville, Florida came from the Leadership Gainesville 36 class, an annual program conducted by the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce. The class, comprised of 38 business leaders from Alachua County, collectively envisioned an opportunity to strengthen and support the region’s nonprofit sector through a consortium of resources.
The management team, comprised of Christopher Johnson and Kari Brill, conducted the research and development phase for the establishment of the NCNCF. The two individuals examined nonprofit resource centers located in the state of Florida and throughout the United States. Johnson and Brill also met with key community members in Alachua County and contiguous counties to better understand how a nonprofit center would benefit the North Central Florida region. NCNCF will gain a complete understanding of the nonprofit landscape once additional primary research is completed via a survey and State of the Sector Report.
The Nonprofit Center’s objective is to provide the tools necessary for nonprofits to succeed and fulfill their mission and as a result, improving the lives of people in our community. Through research of our nonprofit sector we provide services specific to our nonprofit community. As a Management Support Organization (MSO), the Nonprofit Center provides programming, workshops, seminars, business resources, consultation and networking opportunities to enhance nonprofit organizations’ internal business functions. On May 24th NCNCF will host it’s 2012 Nonprofit Summit in Gainesville, Florida, I am honored to pre presenting at this event and welcome any BCG readers in the Florida area to join me there!
