Charity Spotlight: Our Father’s Project Inc. Mentors and Supports Today’s Dad!

“Anyone can become a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad.”

Our Father’s Project, Inc (OFP) has dedicated its time and resources to men who yearn to become better fathers to their children. Founders Ashaki Sypher and Clarence Brewton established Our Father’s Project after making an agreement to always be co-parents to their children, regardless of their current relationship status. Sypher and Brewton knew their were an unprecedented amount of children in their community who were suffering from the loss of an absentee father. The two decided to create an organization that would teach parents how to communicate and maintain healthy relationships for the sake of the well being of their children. OFP not only helps parents to work together to create common working relationships, but they also provide services to father’s that help them establish themselves legally in the lives of their children. These services assists fathers with the navigation of family courts to establish and maintain child support and visitation rights.

Our Father’s Project was created out of a need that has been plaguing the American family for decades. OFPs mission is to build family cohesion by establishing stability, maturity, and responsibility through fatherly involvement. Their goal is to support fathers and help strengthen relationships with their children. Our Father’s Project offers the following services to achieve their mission and goals:

Men 2 Mentor Program: Fathers are paired with mentors, who are also fathers, to support them monthly and through each phase of the program.

Individual and Family Counseling: Fathers are given one hour per week of individual and family counseling where they are encouraged to discuss issues that may be plaguing their relationships. Fathers are also offered psychosocial assessments that are used to create an action plan to help them reach their goals.

Support Groups: Bi-weekly, fathers attend peer support groups where they can openly discuss issues surrounding their family relationships and personal concerns.

Fatherly Foundations: OFP offers a curriculum that has been proven to improve parenting skills.

Our Father’s Project is a 501 (c) 3 organization that operates in South Florida. Donations and contributions are needed to continue supporting fathers and building healthy family relationships. To support Our Father’s Project Inc visit www.ourfathersproject.org
