Meet today’s BCG Charity Spotlight: Someone’s Daughter Inc. a New Jersey community based nonprofit organization founded in 2012. Someone’s Daughter was established and  is directed by a group of women who are primarily concerned with Educating, Encouraging and Empowering young females to strive for success against all odds. The organization’s primary mission is to improve the quality of life for young females in urban communities by overwhelming them with images of positive, successful and educated women who stories began similar to theirs. The goal is to help girls develop pride in themselves, their bodies and in their relationships with peers, as well as to maintain core values that will protect them from negative influences.

IMG_2003515839371238The organization offers young girls a wealth of programs including: Act Like a Lady an etiquette program, Model Citizen – a volunteer program and my Health is my Wealth – health education, just to name a few. The programs are built on several components; academics, culture, image, life skills, sisterhood and networking. The founders say the program is life-changing and that young girls are assisted in self-awareness and self-improvement as they are encouraged and supported to move towards the fulfillment of personal, professional, financial, educational, relational and spiritual growth goals.

​Someone’s Daughter, Inc. is devoted to responding to the needs of adolescent females through public education, advocacy, and volunteer mobilization. The goal of the Someone’s Daughter, Inc. is to help girls to develop pride in themselves, their bodies and in their relationships with peers, and to maintain core values that will protect them from negative influences, identify and enhance their leadership skills and support their success as adults.

Committed to decreasing teen pregnancy and abortion rates, decreasing high school dropout rates, incarceration, and gang violence; while increasing achievement of academic excellence, increased volunteerism, participation in community-oriented events, choosing of healthy and positive alternatives and an overall improved quality of life is the ultimate vision.

Someone’s Daughter seeks to identify and support effective strategies for engaging adolescent females in character education and leadership development opportunities in order to:

• Expand their repertoire of pro-social behaviors
• Decrease their likelihood of involvement in risk behaviors (early pregnancy, juvenile delinquent activities, substance abuse, etc.)
• Increase their academic performance
• Enhance their bonding with community through civic activities
• Increase their alliances with positive peer groups
• Increase their self-efficacy​
