Essence Magazine ‘Black Women in Music’ honored Kelly Rowland and Sylvia Rhone!

 

Former Destiny Child’s singer Kelly Rowland took 2011 by storm after her summer hit “Motivation”.  The Texas native was also presented with a platinum plaque by songwriter Rico Love who wrote ‘Motivation’. ‘Motivation’ was Grammy nominated and in August of 2011 went certified platinum. Rowland was joined by longtime friend and former Destiny Child member Michelle Williams and Ne-Yo.  At the end of her set Williams said “To all the women out there, God Bless. I couldn’t have done it without you.”

Rowland also Gives Back though her foundation, I Heart My Girlfriends! BCG salutes Essence Magazine, Kelly Rowland and Sylvia Rhodes!

Sylvia Rhodes stepped down as President of Universal Motown Records.  Rhodes took over the record label in 2004 and oversaw artists Lil Wayne, Nikki Minaj, Akon, and Stevie Wonder just to name a few of her artists.  Essence held their 3rd annual event in Hollywood, California with the likes of Kenny Lattimore, Letoya Luckett, and Wayne Brady.
