Event: NY Organization to Host Two Day Conference Supporting Our Young Black Women!


Mother Tongue Monologues & Catharsis will be holding a two day conference that will include interactive workshops, educational speakers, and health consultations. This event is being set for to support our women of color for Black History Month. To give a voice to those who wish not to speak.
They will take place at the Black National Theater of Harlem and at Medgar Evers College on February 24th & 25th.

Friday February 24th- An evening performance that brings together a cast of renown poets, activists and actors offering inspiring accounts about Black women, girls and sexual identity, intimacy, consent, agency, pleasure, desire and the role of the erotic. This All-Star cast performance will be held at The National Black Theater of Harlem, located in 2031-33 Fifth Avenue (Cross Street: 125th & 126 Sts.) New York, NY 10035. Saturday February 25th – Full day consisting of Key Note speeches, African Artifacts exhibitions, Performances, Sexual Health & Pleasure workshops, Massage/Body Work Festival, Open Mic Poetry (Narratives), Individualized Health consultations, Movement Therapy, Drumming. This day will be at Medgar Evers College 1650 Bedford Avenue Brooklyn, NY 11225-2017.

Key Note Speakers include:
Kathleen Adams is the co-founder of Momma’s Hip Hop Kitchen. MHHK serves as a social justice community-organizing platform that educates and empowers women of color on issues that impact their lives, including HIV/AIDS and reproductive justice.

Esther Armah hosts Wake Up Call, WBAI99.5FM’s national and international news morning talk show. She has also hosted WNYC’s online live web-cast series ‘The Next New York Conversation.’ On TV in New York, she is a political commentator for MSNBC’s ‘Up With Chris Hayes’; a regular commentator on and has hosted GRITtv with Laura Flanders and MNN’s Ancestor House with Camille Yarbrough. As a playwright, her plays: ‘Can I Be Me? ‘Forgive Me?’ and ‘Entitled!’ have been produced for the New York stage.

This two day event will lend a voice as well as an educational opportunity for everyone. Both events are free and everyone can register at
