Why Giving Back Is A Way of Life

Giving BackAs an individual you may have often found yourself engulfed in an array of questions – Questions pertaining to your purpose in life and about being happy in the truest sense. There are some of us who earn extravagant amounts and choose to live in luxury, there are some of us who live pay check to pay check and there are few more earning meager funds and barely able to make the end’s meet. When the society is divided in the above three classes, it becomes essential to strike a balance because too much of anything may harm the overall well being of the society. There are those who fancy luxury cars, expensive clothes, branded fragrances etc. and then there are those who strive to get a piece of anything that is thrown at them just to help them survive. Yes, all of us have a right to reward ourselves for our hard work but what if you decide to make someone else happy in the course?

Research has suggested that “giving” something to someone without expecting anything in return has a lot of mental, physical and spiritual benefits. It makes you grow up as a human being. “Giving” gives a sense of joy and inner peace because when you do something for yourself you merely make yourself happy, but when you “give” to others you recognize your inner greatness. This feeling in turn works as a cure for all your inner inhibitions, fears, depressions and anxieties. You know that you are not only capable of standing up on your feet and help yourself, but also capable enough to give life and happiness to someone else. You feel blessed and that helps you overcome situations in your own life.

Philanthropy may have several connotations but in essence it means giving to the society you have come up from. While the old may require time, homeless may require clothes, food and monetary stuff; children may require care and nurturing. Giving back comes in various forms. Agreed that not many of us would have that extra money to spend on others, but as I said giving back doesn’t only mean materialistic give and take. It can also mean caring about an individual’s well being and just letting them know that there is someone to look after them.
