From the DMV up to NYC, The Society for Girls, Inc. was ready to serve as butterfly mentors for this amazing partnership. Through a series of self-esteem building workshops, 100 teen girls, all who rocked their PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT t-shirts, were granted the rare opportunity to discuss the media’s skewed perception of beauty, learned to embrace their physical attributes and understand how to eat properly and stay active in various settings. Beyond the myriad of activities the day was one to remember. At the intimate event, Hilson shared a personal story with the girls. She discussed breaking her nose as a basketball player and the struggle she faced fearing that her nose would be hit again. Among other topics, Hilson communicated the importance of hygiene and inner beauty. She said, “It’s not about what you look like, it’s all about how you feel. Yea when you look good you feel good too, but it’s more important that you feel it from the inside out.”

The event was held at the Educational Alliance’s Sirovich Senior Center and featured live music spun by DJ Tyger Lily, dancing, jump roping, food, prizes and exclusive gift bags sponsored by Nike , Miss Jessie’s , iTunes , Interscope Records , Jones Magazine , The Society for Girls , Inc. and T.E.E.N. Diaries.
