On Friday, GRAMMY® Award-nominated gospel music artist James Fortune along with GRAMMY® Award-nominated gospel artist VaShawn Mitchell took time to visit with St. Jude patient Ethan at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Fortune and Mitchell are two of the headlining gospel artists on the United As One Tour in Memphis. Tonight, Fortune will attend the 55th Annual Grammy Awards where he has received two coveted nominations. Both Fortune and Mitchell are multiple Stellar Award winners.

St. Jude is celebrating 51 years of finding cures that have saved the lives of countless children around the world. Families never pay St. Jude for anything and when St. Jude opened its doors in 1962, it was the first fully integrated children’s hospital in the South. African-American and white patients were treated in the same rooms; they dined together; and bathroom facilities were integrated. The daily operating cost for St. Jude is $1.8 million, which is covered primarily by public contributions through programs like Radio Cares for St. Jude Kids and Sunday of Hope.
