Kelly Rowland Fights Dating Abuse with Saving Our Daughters!

KellyRowlandStill-PostOctober is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Saving Our Daughters’ YELL Confidence initiative is here to say that violence is never acceptable and to give support victims of dating abuse. “X Factor” judge Kelly Rowland, one of the supporters of the initiative, stars in a new PSA.

“I am here for all my young women when they need a friend,” Kelly says in the PSA, which was directed by celebrity photographer Derek Blanks. “I am here for all my young women when they think there is no one to turn to. I am here for all my young women to let them know that you can now stand up to this senseless abuse. Please join my efforts and Saving our Daughters with the YELL Confidence initiative.”

Other celebrity women taking part in the initiative include K. Michelle and NeNe Leakes. Saving Our Daughters also has a collab going on with Covenant House of New York to raise awareness and help teenage girls with issues like domestic violence, sexual abuse and homelessness.

Kelly gave an exclusive interview to MTV Act in February to discuss her involvement with YELL Confidence. “I meet so many young girls who openly admit to being abused and they are so young…my heart breaks,” she said. “We have to take a stand against this and let young girls know that this is wrong and try to break some of the silence about domestic violence.”
