Mission Statement:
Inspire women from all walks of life to gain the confidence and skills they need to reach their individual potential.

How did FFAWN get started?
The Mary J. Blige and Steve Stoute Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now, Inc. (FFAWN) was created and funded in 2007 by recording artist Mary J. Blige and marketing pioneer Steve Stoute in order to use Mary’s personal story and success to inspire women from all walks of life to reach their individual potential. Mary hopes to help these women overcome the difficulties they face in their lives and to provide them with the drive and confidence to pursue – and realize – their goals and dreams.

About:
Women have to fight to gain the same rights & respect as male counter parts. Challenges can at times be discouraging, preventing women from reaching their dreams and achieving their fullest potential in life. FFAWN steps in to provide support. The foundation serves as a source of motivation, encouragement, and knowledge for women and young girls thru various programs offered at the Mary J. Blige Center for Women via workshops and scholarships, grants, job placement, and life skills.

Programs Offered:
• A Different Start – helps young mothers make independent life decisions & learn life skills.
• Legacy – Promotes empowerment, values, & money management .
• My Life Project – Prepares young girls to success by teaching them decision making & problem solving skills. Workshops focus on peer pressure, drugs, alcohol, etc.
• Patrice’s Closet – Provides professional clothing for women seeking employment; instilling confidence and pride.
• 3E (Empowerment, Education and Encouragement) Monthly workshops held at the Mary J. Blige center, moderated by community leaders that drives home the 3E topics.

Major Accomplishments: Last year 25 young women received full scholarships to attend college. As of today, all receipts are still enrolled and maintain a 3.2 GPA.

Last Words:
“What has brought our life to our purpose is a willingness to do whatever it takes to make sure that every one of you, your mothers, your sisters, your cousins, and your best friends understand that you are a phenomenal woman. This is an attitude we all must develop in our hearts as we go out into the world”
~Mary J. Blige

I watched you on behind the scene and cried thru the whole show. I have been thru it all except happiness and success. I want to know, if you totally love a guy and you know the love is not returned, You know you deserve more, but you feel you get what you can, and accept whatever. I am not happy no days. I don’t live for myself, just for my kids. I want him to leave, but i want him to stay. Its not healthy! I so happen to attract the guys that i give my all to and there all is vacant. A women myth is ” i rather love than be alone” Why? Why we need a man to validate who we are? If i need a man validation of me, to know me, i will never know myself. If i know this, why i don’t use this. Rhetorical question. My chess hurts daily because of stress, i think! My family is corrupted in all ways, i have no one to turn to or talk to. I hide in my poetry. I tried suicide to many times to count. I give up. What am i to do? Please help! Don’t ignore this post please! I need someone.
