Memphis Grizzlies Tony Allen and Quincy Pondexter Give Back to Memphis Youth!

Memphis Grizzlies guard Tony Allen and forward Quincy Pondexter get a high-five for giving back to the community Thursday. Allen handed out 150 coats that he purchased to Memphis-area youth affiliated with the organization Knowledge Quest Thursday afternoon.

Allen and his team of helpers will be at the Gaston Community Center keeping kids all across Memphis warm this winter season. Knowledge Quest, a non-profit organization that serves the South Memphis community, is an agency that builds stronger communities by developing inner-city youth. This area makes up some of the City of Memphis’ highest rates in poverty, school drop-out, substance abuse and teenage pregnancy, coupled with the gang activity and youth violence.

Along with the coat distribution, Allen will also share his testimony with a group of youth about reaching his goal of playing in the NBA despite the adversity he had to face.

Thursday morning, Quincy Pondexter was joined by representatives from the alliance for a Healthier Generation to tour classrooms at Bruce elementary and speak with students about proper nutrition. The school just earned a Bronze National recognition award out of 250 schools nationwide.
