Non-Profit of the Year Southeast Region

Check out a few of the nominations for our finalists in the Southeast Region!

Society for Girls
The Society For Girls is everything I wish I had in my life growing up. So many young girls stray onto the wrong paths because they have no true guidance, no mentor, no one to remind them what they are worth. TSFG does that for young girls in Metro DC, Baltimore area. All the things they learn in the TSFG program about being a lady I wasn’t exposed to until I got to college. Speaks to how far we have come & I see that TSFG is providing hope for young girls & I support it.

Fashion Empowering Women
The Fashion Empowering Women (FEW) Foundation offers fundraising support to non-profit organizations nationally and internationally. With 2 beneficiaries annually, FEW is committed to organizations whose model of delivery encourages efficacy, and self reliance therefore empowering women to change their lives and that of their children’s. With the awareness that support must be multi-faceted, FEW will support an array of causes to include: education, teen pregnancy, ex-offenders, rape, homelessness, drug and alcohol abuse, domestic violence, image, social and professional development.

The Fellaz Youth
The Fellaz Youth is so needed in this day and time, when you look at the terrible statistics of our young black men, you have to give praise where it is due. Since forming, I have witnessed this organization shift prospective for the young me they serve often times offering the only positive male guidance in their life. This is an outstanding organization who is humbly committed to serve our young boys and we need this.

Overtown Youth Center
When you think of Miami, you probably think South Beach, palm trees and nightlife, but Miami is far more worse off than TV would let you believe. As a dade county resident all my life, I have seen personally what Alonzo Mourning has been doing in the lives of youth here in Miami over the past decade. My son attends the OYC and even had the opportunity to go to the space center. I thank Overtown for showing my son life beyond Miami and for helping him believe in himself. I owe OYC a lot and I hope they win.

Focal Point Global
Focal Point Global (FPG) was founded in 2009 to provide the world’s disadvantaged youth with an essential global experience despite limited resources. Focal Point Global empowers youth to tackle community issues through global education and innovative technology. FPG goal is to foster partnerships that bring about social change. In 2010, 10 US and Namibian high school students were linked via Skype to discuss HIV and ways to combat the disease in their communities. In 2012, e-learning and social networking tools will be used to link and prepare about a 100 youth from the US, Namibia, and Cameroon to address HIV and childtrafficking. It has partnered with numerous local organizations in the US and Africa, such as Young Fit and Fly, Mondesa Youth Organization, Sisters Together and Reaching, to foster global thinking and local change.
