Preserve Our Legacy to Host Symposium to Educate Community on Bone Marrow Cancer and Save lives!

Preserve Our Legacy will host the first monthly P.O.L Symposium at The Salvation Army Harlem Temple Corps.  This will be a series of monthly symposium events at different locations throughout the country to educate and inform the ethnic community about the benefits of stem cells through bone marrow and cord blood donation along with a bone marrow drive for a patients in need.  In addition to, treatment options provided for up to 76 diseases.  These series of monthly events will begin on Saturday, June 30, 2012 from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm.  These series will also include panel discussions to educate individuals, which will take place during 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm.
The Preserve Our Legacy Symposium will provide many individuals, especially those from various ethnic groups, health resources, information and benefits they did not know were available to them.  Attendees will be informed about their options to register as a bone marrow or cord blood donors.  In addition to, various demonstrations on “how to register” and the “process of registration”.  Attendees will be also informed of treatment options that are provided for various heath disparities that affect ethnic communities.  These series of monthly events will consist of panel discussions along with Q & A sessions for audience members.  Each event will include a monthly bone marrow drives.  June 30, 2012 will launch the event series; Bone Marrow Drive from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Preserve Our Legacy, Inc. is a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit, whose mission is to educate individuals, especially those from various ethnic groups, about the benefits of stem cells through treatment options provided via PBSC, bone marrow and umbilical cord blood donation.  The organization also spearheaded Jaden’s Law to increase awareness about PBSC and bone marrow donation within various ethnic communities.  Preserve Our Legacy launched the first educational program, P.O.L. Umbilical Cord Blood Program at Harlem Hospital in December 2010.  Since Jaden’s death, Preserve Our Legacy has been advocating to increase awareness about the need of various ethnic donors, in addition to, having those that register to step up when called to help a patient.  “I’m pleased to announce our goal to increase awareness amongst various communities by hosting a series of monthly events.  It is time that we inform the communities of the need of more donors as well as Jaden’s story,” says, Brett Melius, Co-Founder of Preserve Our Legacy, Inc.
