The R&B Divas Make Giving Look and Sound Good!

photoFriday night in Atlanta’s Buckhead neighborhood lives were changed and a new journey began for ten lucky women and girls; BCG was there to witness it all. DivasandWildflowers.org in conjunction with TVONE’s R&B Divas, BTG (Beyond The Game) and the Center Of Black Women’s Wellness hosted the ” Divas Night Out” affair in honor of women who work daily to overcome adversity and struggle. Ten women in the city of Atlanta were selected to receive a complete makeover and be serenaded by some of the sensational R&B voices in the music industry. The event combined music, fashion, giving and networking all for a fabulous cause.
The star studded lifestyle makeover event starred the cast of TV ONES hit show R&B Divas with live performances including a reunion of 90’s R&B Group Brownstone, Keke Wyatt, and Monifa. The event was no doubt, empowering engulfed in singing, sharing and saluting sisterhood; it was amazing to see these legendary women in entertainment come together in support of the launch of the community initiative – DivasandWildflowers.org which was created to help encourage and inspire positive communication and relationships between women struggling with addiction, depression, hardships and adversity in life along with the women in their lives who support them in their struggle.

photo-45I was moved to tears by some of the stories that included a young girl who was raped by her step father and her mother who came together to triumph through this tragedy. From cancer survivors to homeless women that beat cervical cancer to teenage mothers who made it through. Each of the divas shared with me personally how they selected the women they did, many expressed that they were moved to tears while reading the story and meeting with the women. Before and after pictures even shocked some of the recipients as they witnessed the transformation, each lady took her strut down the runway and the applauses seemed endless.

Honored by the divas was  BCG Celebrity Giver of the Year, Chanita Foster, and her Beyond the Game organization, Foster said she was overjoyed and that giving back was her dream come true. In all it was phenomenal to see the love that was shared and celebrated from the attendees to the honorees, I loved it. Special thanks to all of the Divas, the sponsors, staff and everyone who made this event possible!   Of course I can’t tell you all the details you’ll have to wait for Season Two of  R&B Divas to appear and see it for yourself!
