Tonight NYC Politicians and Celebs Fight Sickle Cell Disease!

SIPS4SickleCell Gala

Sickle cell disease is the most common genetic disorder in the United States with about 100,000 Americans thought to be living with sickle cell disease, and every year another 1,000 babies are born with the disease.  While the disease impacts all races and ethnicities, African-Americans make up 60-80 percent of Americans with sickle cell disease. Yet, there is still no cure for the disease and little awareness and support for individuals living with the disease.  As a result, Jennifer Goldston founded SIPS for Sickle Cell to help raise awareness and support children living with sickle cell disease.

In the spirit of love and giving this Valentine’s week, SIPS is convening New York’s finest on tonight to raise awareness surrounding sickle cell disease and grow support for children living with the disease at the SIPS for Sickle Cell Has Heart Valentine’s Fundraising Gala.  Jennifer will be joined by co-hosts:

·   Sylvia Rhone of Vested In Culture/Sony Music

·  Gwen Niles of Bad Boy

·  Ebro Darden of HOT 97

·  Assemblyman Keith Wright

· Councilwoman Inez Dickens

·  Chef Roble of Bravo’s Chef Roble and Co.

·  Antonio Pierce of Englewood Cliffs Cadillac and New York Super Bowl champion

·  Kerry Rhodes, NFL Arizona Cardinals star

·  Savion Glover, Tony-Award winning choreographer, tap dancer, and actor.
