Ways to Give: Help Connect Enchanted Closet to Teens Needing Prom Dresses!

slide1Last year I had the pleasure of providing ten prom dresses to Enchanted Closet of Atlanta to help make dreams come true for teens in need, and let me tell you it was an amazing feeling when the organization sent me photos of young women in the dresses I had purchased. Many of us forget the sheer excitement and fun that comes from attending our high school prom, but for thousands of young girls, the excitement is replaced with fear and sadness as their families are not able to afford all of the luxuries that attending prom comes with. That’s what’s so great about Enchanted Closet, they make dreams come true for young women and their families in the Atlanta area.

Do you know a young lady in financially challenged circumstances who needs a prom dress? Direct them to register today for the Enchanted Closet’s 11th Annual Prom Dress Giveaway here http://bit.ly/10hISVr.

The Prom Dress Giveaway events will be held as follows:
Saturday, March 16 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
John Birdine Neighborhood Center
215 Lakewood Way S.W.
Atlanta, GA 30315

Saturday, March 30 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Rialto Center for the Arts at Georgia State University 80 Forsyth Street N.W.
Atlanta, GA 30303

For the past 11 prom seasons, from 2003 to 2013, the Enchanted Closet has outfitted more than 4,000 metro Atlanta girls in need for special occasions. During the Prom Dress Giveaway, the Enchanted Closet offers a boutique-style setting and provides personal shoppers – people who are volunteers – to help each girl choose that perfect dress, accessories and makeup for their special night. The Enchanted Closet services young ladies living in Bartow, Butts, Carroll, Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, Dawson, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Hall, Henry, Lumpkin, Newton, Paulding, Rockdale, or Walton county. The Enchanted Closet is collecting donations of prom attire and accessories to help outfit girls. The organization needs new or gently used formal dresses that are clean, in good condition and teen appropriate. Dresses size 14 and up are really in need as nearly half of the girls registered for this year’s Prom Dress Giveaway requires this size range. Donations of prom accessories such as jewelry, handbags, wraps and shoes, and gift certificates for businesses such as restaurants, florists, limos and hair and nail salons are also needed. Donation drop-off points are located throughout the metro Atlanta area and are listed on www.enchantedcloset.org.

“The Enchanted Closet believes that no girl should miss out on the chance to attend her high school prom simply because she could not afford a dress,” said Bonita Johnson, Enchanted Closet President and CEO. “A large number of Atlanta teenagers today are being raised by single parents, grandparents and others on a fixed income. With the Atlanta community’s help, we want to outfit as many young ladies in need of a dress as we possibly can.”

Enchanted Closet encourages girls to be smart shoppers by providing them an opportunity to get beautiful gowns for $10, a handling fee that helps to offset the costs of dry-cleaning, alterations, and set-up. Accessories are available on a limited basis, including jewelry, wraps, and shoes. Registration for the Prom Dress Giveaway for interested girls and additional information is available on enchantedcloset.org. If you can support please do and tell them BCG sent you!
