A Wonderful Weekend of Charity and Giving Stars Dwight Howard, Big Boi, Deion Sanders and more Give Back!

Let’s mark this weekend down in BCG Giving History! So excited to see all the great celebrities who put their best foot forward for charity! We salute and spotlight all the great celebrity givers! Show them your love and support!

Atlanta played host to four high powered charity events garnering money for the arts, youth football, college scholarships and hunger!

The Dwight D. Howard Foundation held their annual Celebrity Basketball Showcase yesterday at the Langston Hughes High School in Fairburn, GA located just 25 minutes south of Atlanta. This fundraiser served to benefit the Scholarship Program of The Dwight D. Howard Foundation. It was a fun-filled event, kids 5 and under were free and tickets started at $15. Celebrities who played in the showcase included: Yolanda Adams, Arron Affalo (Denver Nuggets), Cee Lo Green, Denver Grant (NY Giants), Lisa Leslie, Quentin Richardson (Orlando Magic) and tons more. Check out the full list here.

Great work by Dwight Howard and all of the celebrities who supported the cause. Mr. Howard is also hosting a basketball game this week (July 18 – 22, 2011). His camp is designed to leverage the lessons and camaraderie of sportsmanship to help bridge the gap between boys and their fathers who are not currently living with them or have the opportunity for contact on a consistent basis. Through the structured program of a 5-day basketball camp, The Foundation brings fathers and sons together in an environment that will help establish a lasting and meaningful relationship that extends off the court. Not only will the camp be offering athletic and educational sessions for the boys (ages 6-17), it will also be providing seminars for the fathers.

Mr. PrimeTime himself rolled out the red carpet for his celebrity guests at the PrimeTime Black & Red Gala on Saturday, July 16 in Atlanta, GA. He also kicked off the Deion Sanders and Jamal Lewis Youth Football Tournament. Few know this, but Sanders is the first member of the Atlanta Falcons to be inducted into the Pro Hall of Fame.

The gala was a fabulous spread of feature food, drinks, dancing and music by Grand Hustle’s DJ Drama and DJ Reggie Reg. Guests of the night included: Jamie Foxx, Chili, Usher, Tyler Perry, Toni Braxton, Jermaine Dupri, Julius “Dr. J” Erving, Atlanta Falcons Owner Arthur Blank and many more.
