BCG Change-Maker Tanya “The Writer” Williams.

BCG Change-Maker Triumph Over Tradgedy!

Atlanta singer, songwriter and music activist Tanya “The Writer” Williams lost her sister to murder and her sister to cancer. She is on a mission to write life, having experienced both violence and cancer two social factors affecting the black community, she is headstrong and determined to make a difference! The Write Life campaign writes the future through grassroots outreach, live performance, education and music that shares a positive message to the community. This is a message that is much needed with Georgia’s grim employment statistics, economic instability and mounting security alerts. “My music motivates people to look ahead,” says Williams, a single mother who lost her sister to murder and her mother to Cancer. “This movement is for people who can’t afford to buy a new CD but really need to hear a good song.”

The Write Life campaign’s initiatives also include music awareness curriculum and recording studio services offered to youth by donation. The goal is to supplement lacking music education programs and raise awareness on the therapeutic effects of music outside of its entertainment purposes.
In working with several young pop acts under mega manager Johnny Wright’s company, Wright Entertainment Group, Williams discovered her gift for working with young artists. She signed her first recording contract at only 15 years old and was developed through work with musical geniuses including Akon, songwriter/producer Terius Nash (Beyonce/Mariah Carey), songwriter Adonis Shropshire (Aubrey O Day/Monica), songwriter Keisha Babi (Ciara), and songwriter J Que Smith (Beyonce/Keri Hilson). Realizing how much she learned from her experiences, Williams became motivated to teaching the next generation.

In  September Williams held a free performance at Underground Atlanta as a part of the Write Life campaign. Williams’ Underground Atlanta performance is one of many charitable performances to come, where she will share her gift with the public. Community partners, donors and music lovers are invited to partner with Tanya as she continues to seek change and be a BCG Change-Maker!
