A Legacy Left Behind Is Going Blue Children’s Grief Awareness Day

Paint The Town Blue

SPREAD THE WORD DC BCG FRIENDS! Invite your family, friends, neighborhood, co-workers, schools, churches, fraternities, sororities, community organizations, networking groups, council representatives, government agencies, etc. to “PAINT THE TOWN BLUE” in honor of grieving children and teens in the DMV on November 21, 2013.

IT’S CHILDREN’S GRIEF AWARENESS DAY! Usually observed on the third Thursday in November every year, the nationwide initiative was started in 2008 to raise awareness about the needs of grieving children and the benefits of them having a “strong and consistent” support system. This is also a means to educate the community about the painful impact and long-term effects that the death of a loved one can have in a child’s life. To learn more about Children’s Grief Awareness Day, visit www.childrensgriefawarenessday.org.

WAYS TO GET INVOLVED! (1). Wear BLUE on November 21, 2013. (2). Take an individual or group picture wearing BLUE and share it with us via e-mail, facebook, or twitter in support of our efforts to create a PAINT THE TOWN BLUE slideshow. (3). Post or tweet words of comfort or inspiring messages to bereaved girls and boys using the hash tag #BLUE4KIDS on the third Thursday in November. (4). Follow us on facebook and twitter to re-post or re-tweet ways to help grieving children and teens cope with loss during the holiday season. (5). Copy the flyer above and send it to as many people as you can and encourage them to wear BLUE on Children’s Grief Awareness Day.
