{PICS} BCG Hosts First Sunday Soul Event for the Homeless in Atlanta, GA!

Sunday Soul ATL

It’s a beautiful thing when passion and career come together! I thank God everyday that I am able to do the work that I do with BCG and I thank you, our loyal readers and supporter for allowing us to be embarking on our three year anniversary next year. One of the many causes I support wholeheartedly is Homelessness and with that Hunger. Whenever I’m given a mic or an opportunity to speak about BCG, what we do and why we do it, I always touch on homelessness, and you know why, because it’s real. The number of working homeless families in the US should shock all of us, one in 52 families in the US, is part of the working homeless population according to the National Coalition to End Homelessness. The facts on hunger, effects even more with 1 in 6 going to bed without food every night. When I moved to Atlanta about nine months ago I had no idea  how large of a homeless population the city had, but once I saw them day after day, I knew I wanted to do something. I began to simply pray and I asked God to order my steps and let me know how I can use my resources to give back. And then one day my prayers were answered, when I met with Anthony Delgado, once homeless himself, he started an incredible organization I Care Atlanta, which supplies food to families in need as well as several homeless shelters. Together we have teamed up to host a bi-weekly (hopefully weekly soon) feeding for the homeless. The event is called “Sunday Soul” a mixture of home cooked soul food meals and some soul music, all in line with our slogan, Giving Back is Good for the Soul! Our next feeding will take place on Sunday, November 3rd at 1:30pm in downtown Atlanta. Check out some of the photos from yesterday’s Sunday Soul event and if you are in the ATL and would like to volunteer with us, simply email Kim@BlackCelebrityGiving.com!
